"STOP THE VICTIMIZATION, INTIMIDATION OF UNION LEADERS" SAYS ASUU LASU

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities from Lagos, Ibadan, Akure and Benin zones; affiliates members of Joint Action Fronts, socialists and activists were in a protest today Friday (14/8/2018) to demand for the reinstatement and recalling of Dr. Akinloye Oyewunmi and Dr. Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu "unconditionally".
The protest kick started at exactly 8:15am from  the Civil Service Union building, Alausa, Ikeja to the government secretariat to demand for the reinstatement of the victimize academic workers for challenging and opposing the militarize method and anti-democratic tactics of the Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University.

Hundreds of the workers, students, socialists and activists were on the street of Ikeja circulating leaflets and calling for solidarity support from the Nigerian mass over the recent happening in the Lagos State University that the school is now a militarize zone against democratic rights, that the Ambode led APC administration is also guilty of.

A lot of demands were raised concerning the way and manner the Lagos State Private Public Partnership government of the APC have been running the state most especially attacking public education. Perhaps refusing to fund public education. The demands were cleared and precise over the state of education in LASU, the attack of students and workers rights.

At the entrance of the state house of assembly. Workers, students were barricaded against from entering the premise, accusing them of violate protesters. But after much pressure and agitations from the organised protesters that were very peaceful and well coordinated. The security personnel, police etc were all force to succumbed to the voice of the workers.

Meanwhile, a lot of issues were raised at the protest ground concerning the state of public education and the pressing issues connected to the victimization, intimidation and bedevilling of union leaders in Lagos State University. ASUU LASU spokesman said they won't bow until their demands are meant.

They call on the Ambode led APC administration to constitute an "investigative panel" to look into the allegation accused on the forceful sacked of Dr. Akinloye. O and Dr. Adebowale. A respectively for collecting bribe, harassing students. For them, this were all lies laid on their members because they were  challenging the militarize method of the Vice Chancellor of LASU.

For ASUU LASU, they aren't oppose to have a meeting with the principal policy maker of the state: Ambode over this matter to immediately recall their members and also stop the barbaric gun harassment and  victimization of students and workers in the academic environment. For them, it is inhuman and abuse of democratic rights.

For the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) members who were fully on ground at the rally/protest to give solidarity to the protesting workers. We in SPN want to encourage the spirit of the ASUU LASU for organizing this protest. That is a huge step against the flamboyant lies of funding public education in Lagos State. Also, to expose the Ambode led APC administration that they are all antis to workers, students democratic rights.

Not only this, SPN is also in full support with  the demands of ASUU LASU. As far we in SPN  are concern the Lagos State government had what its takes to fund public education. The excuse given by the government doesn't hold water. It can not move a pebble stone. It is all lie. Lagos has enough to ensure children of the working class attend free quality education without paying a token, just the way the pro-mass Unity Party of Nigeria led Jakande administration of 1979-83 did.

But because of the capitalist policies of contracting welfare to themselves and their cohort. The APC bourgeois politicians since 1999 it had been in power from when it was Alliance for Democracy (AD). Its policies has always been to attack the working class and the people of Lagos. Through its Private Public Partnership agenda, the APC regime since then has continued to starved social welfare. The worst of it is underfunding public education despite the Internal Generated Revenue is making.

SPN want to urge the ASUU LASU and its affiliates members not to relent but to bite harder until its demands are meant. We also use this medium to state that workers, youth, students, leftist and genuine seekers to start thinking of how we all begin to fundamentally build a political alternative to wrestle power from these thieves called law makers, whose only philosophical programmes is for  themselves and their allies in the private sectors.

We in SPN are saying this because we understand that the problem confronting us is not only economical. It is also link to political problem. Capitalism is the witchcraft haunting development and better life of the masses. SPN believe that running an adequate educational sector will amount to the democratic control and management of it by the academic workers, parents and students at large.

SPN also use this medium to call on genuine leftists, workers and students who believe in the ASUU LASU struggle and demand to fight along with them to end the menace and thuggery tactics and method of the Lagos State University vice chancellor agenda and the attackers of the education: the Ambode led APC PPP administration. Fundamentally, the demand of public education adequately. It is only through this can we all force the wolves to bow.

SPN! Party for workers, youth and the masses. Join us today for real change.

POPULATION RISE IS NOT OUR PROBLEM BUT THE POLICIES

Source: Flat Rock By Davy Fidel Writer/Freelance I n Nigeria, at a time, the propaganda branding some news is that our population and our tongue is our problem. That Nigeria is made up of 250 ethnic groups and a population of 180 million is the reason why we are having ethnic clashes unravelling among people.
