"OPERATION POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION" IS TO CRUSH DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS

The Campaigner - a subsidiary of LIFEINSLUM - urges the Nigerian masses and the poor, to oppose the recent plan of the Buhari led administration alongside the Buratai led Military, who plan to kick off Operation Positive Identification (OPI). The consequential effect of this bill, if it's become a law, will be a way of attacking the democratic rights of people, who will be at the receiving end to suffer more from this martial act.

The Nigerian Police on their part will definitely want to use it as a medium, to return in full force "police brutality" in a place like Ajegunle and other poor communities, where the failed policies of APC Lagos State has resulted to the complete collapse of social welfare, inadequate funding of public education etc. In addition, the Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA, who on its part is not any different from the State government.

As matter of fact, the government on their part, who tries to give excuses to its inability to resolve the contradiction at hand, has never given any face lift to the social unrest unraveling in the community, despite the unaccounted IGR and the allocation received from the Federal account. Rather, it is the reverse where politicians from ruling parties continue to use public money through "projects" to make themselves rich.

The Operation Positive Identification will also empower the police in places like Ajegunle, to kick off possibly, the theory of "broken window" that was initiated in New York in the 90s, where the government then used it to flag off a campaign against gang war, violence and domestic terrorism in poor communities: Ghettos; in the United States of America. The then US government massively finance the onslaught, as a measure to deal with domestic violence and crime.

In fact, a lot of youths - black and white - were attacked, harassed and brutalized. Some were lock down for life. Others were repatriated and killed by the authority. With the "broken window" theory then, the police were made to be more brutal, and police brutality was redouble to eradicate gang war, which fundamentally doesn't resolve the contradiction. The government uses it as medium to campaign there is peace, whereas, is the opposite.

Relatively, the fear possibly that will befall the downtrodden in poor communities is, if this bill of 'Operation Positive Identification' is made to fly, it will pave way for the police, the army and all paramilitary forces to definitely declare war on the democratic rights of the poor masses especially the unemployed youth. The attack will be fierce and no doubt, mass movements against police brutality will hit the streets again.

Despite the police (in a place like Ajegunle) are doing it on hide and seek, however, if the OPI is implemented, it will give the police the opportunity to haunt unemployed youth and the poor the way its pleases them under the disguise of fighting crime. The honest truth is that the OPI will only worsen the attack on people. The politicians are already on stage as town crier against the  OPI to gather support from the mass.

However, the poor masses should not in any way be deceive by the politicians, that they have the mass at heart. The outcry of the ruling politicians on this matter, is the fear of military taking over as political way forward to the failed civilian rule. However, this is not to justify that the military is going to serve any fundamental difference, to the rot in the failed policies of the capitalist government.

Without allowing asteroid to strike before acting...the poor mass should oppose the Operation Positive Identification of the military, not from the angle of defending the failed democracy of inequality, but to defend their own interest as working people with socialist program and demands; against the rot in capitalist system and policies of the government led by Buhari, whose agenda is to clamp down on any mass movements or resistances against their policies.

And because of the failed PPP policies of the Federal, State and Local Government; the rise of violence and social unrest has been increased. This unrest has recently led to the feud that took place on 28/10/2019 in Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA between two streets: Aroworade and Opeleye. The feud created an opportunity for shops to be looted, and according to information gathered, two brothers lost their lives in the middle of the feud. This is just one out of hundreds occurring in Lagos.

The government using "security" as avenue to claim the issue of bandits, terrorism etc can only be curb through the Operation Positive Identification, is to, as reiterated, sanction democratic rights of movement, association and expression of people. More so,  declare war on the mass, if oppose the regime, as is currently  going on in Hong Kong. This possibly is the idea behind the thick smoke puffing to the air, the regime has lit to taste reactions.

The Campaigner urge the working masses not to accept this, but oppose it with organized resistances and protest, to end the system of inequality with socialist demands and program, where public resources will be manage democratically by workers and the poor. Anything short of this, will definitely mean, the government will continue to introduce policies that will increase the economic hardship of people. In addition, abuse democratic rights.

POPULATION RISE IS NOT OUR PROBLEM BUT THE POLICIES

Source: Flat Rock By Davy Fidel Writer/Freelance I n Nigeria, at a time, the propaganda branding some news is that our population and our tongue is our problem. That Nigeria is made up of 250 ethnic groups and a population of 180 million is the reason why we are having ethnic clashes unravelling among people.
