SOLIDARITY TO ALABA-ORA PEOPLE FOR RESISTING DISCONNECTION

Yesterday Friday 12/4/2019 Davy Fidel and Lexan Ali members of DSM gave solidarity visit, to the people of Alaba Oro community in their meeting, over the non payment of crazy and the demand for free installation of prepaid metre.
More than eighty persons mostly women were in attendance to give reports and equally  discuss plans on how to build the campaign. Despite their case is in court over this matter. Both in the Federal High Court and Magistrate Court, they are still on ground. Holding meetings, planning to sensitized people in the community.

They have a case coming up on May 15 and 25 April at the two courts stated above respectively. From the reports gathered, the Eko Disco management team at Alaba Oro led by one Mr. Kuti, have been having meetings with the residents in the community.

But nothing fundamental has come out from it. Instead, he has bluntly being saying that "prepaid metre" is not free. People who need them MUST buy it. However, from the people who spoke in the  meeting said. They rejected the statement of Mr. Kuti, and they stood their ground.

Interesting suggestions were given immediately after the reports. The campaign should be rejuvenate to awaken the people. Comrades who spoke suggested for a sensitization materials like leaflets and possibly posters.

Also, for the day of court appearance on 25 April, 2019. Banners and placards should be carry along. Immediately after the court sitting, a little demonstrations should be done to create more awareness.

According to the comrades, engaging in this  will help to politically expose the deeds of Eko. More so, to inspire other communities in Ajegunle and the country at large, who are also fighting against crazy bills, epileptic power supply and the demand for free installation of prepaid metre.

In the spirit of No Payment for Darkness and the demand for Prepaid Metre. The Coalition for Affordable and Regular Electricity (CARE), call on all affiliates in the Ajegunle community, community activists and working people in Nigeria.

We should all give solidarity support to the Alaba-Ora community in their upcoming court case in both at Federal High Court and Magistrate Court on April 25 and May 15, 2019 respectively.

More so, we in CARE want to urge all groups and communities resisting that fundamentally, we should begin to demand for the re-nationalization of the power sector under democratic management and control by workers and the consumers.

It is only through this, regular power supply can be guaranteed. End to casualization of electricity workers. End to exploitative crazy bill and free installation of prepaid metre. Most importantly, proper and adequate investment in the power sector without any profit driven agenda.

POPULATION RISE IS NOT OUR PROBLEM BUT THE POLICIES

Source: Flat Rock By Davy Fidel Writer/Freelance I n Nigeria, at a time, the propaganda branding some news is that our population and our tongue is our problem. That Nigeria is made up of 250 ethnic groups and a population of 180 million is the reason why we are having ethnic clashes unravelling among people.
