MAY RESURFACE IF NOTHING IS DONE

After the last mayhem around September 2018, both inside and in front of the Local Government Secretariat in Ajegunle, where two gang group exchange fire arms that led to the death of at least 8  persons or thereabout. Since then, the deceased families hadn't been the same. Unable to recover from both the shock and their lost.

The government on their part has  kept mute, without doing nothing in regard to this mayhem. Despite some of the local papers reported the mayhem, and the disappointing body language of the local authority on this matter especially trying to quell it. However, it doesn't translate practically to the issue on ground.

And because the government has mismanage this situation not publicly coming out to say something on it; on what practically they can do to arrest it fundamentally since the eruption. To put a stop to it in order not to escalate further. The incessant killing is beginning to resurface. This time, on a more terrible way. In fact, coming harder than before.

The saga which took place in the last one week of December, 2018 at  Aiyetoro community (the exact place where gang of boys fought that led to cost of lives and properties damaged), confirm what residents in the area has been saying. That this gang war among these boys, are largely link to "joblessness".

According to information gathered, at Oduduwa street and other neighbouring areas, around 2am on 25th December. Group of boys broke into people's shops and cart away with properties worth hundred, thousands of Naira. Not only this, the whole places were littered with broken bottles.

Worst still, vehicles parked on the way, were equally vandalized. Kiosk stationed at the corners of each streets link to major roads, were turn up down. In fact, it was said for the whole period this was going on. The Nigerian Police were no place to be found. They were in a thin air in this whole calamity. Far away to rescue the entire crises.

The entire neighbourhood was in total fear. Afraid, if they come out to challenge the breaking of shops. They might possibly be harm or meet death in the hands of these boys. Because of this, some of the people who witnessed this, said. For about three hours of this gang stealing. We were restless.

We saw fire burning down our homes. In fact, coming down on the whole entire neighbourhood. The worst was, the whole place as usual was in total darkness. Hardly you can see the faces of the gang in the dark. Eko Disco withheld the electricity supply and left us in total fear especially not knowing where to run to, if finally it turns unexpected.

In the morning of the same day, people who were affected came out, bitterly expressing the sad side of this gang robbery and vandalized shops. They felt something must be done to curtail this crises. The suggestion of Jungle Justice for those affected begin to sound as an alternative. They believe it must bring a lasting solution, if revisited.

But for other people, it will only slow it down for awhile like tracking a snail, however, if the fundamental issue is not adequately address well. It will continue to get far worse and unbearable, as things in the society collapse further. The government for a lot of people rationale to point this out. Must begin to look deep into this resurfacing crises.

The government, according to other critical opinions is that, they must ensure these boys through provision of welfare that can be accessible, will help to reduce the earthquake in the community. But, if this is not properly put in the right place, the worse as the year gets thicker in skin, more of this may resurface. This time worse than previous tensions.

Perhaps, they shall do more terrible things subsequently, going by recent shock and societal earth crack. Being they group themselves, as seen in most occasions. They will decide to haunt harder then before. And if they observe the hammer of the community is to come harder on them. They may decide to scatter into the wind for awhile. But shall  resurface like fire to burn down everywhere.

This is only when "Jungle Justice" is back again as the immediate razor to cut any flesh, campaign by most people. However, the consequence is what a lot of rational opinion fear, will claw the whole areas if endorse. From the past, lessons of it for those who witnessed it,  and the return of the consequence, thinks the otherwise and the danger of such option. Instead, the government must be held responsible, in spite of whatever excuses given.

Meanwhile, 45 percent of the affected persons who live within and outside the jurisdiction of the area said for the last past 5-6 years, this is the very first time such has happened to them. They have never seen a thing like this before. For those who rented shops especially in the affected streets/lane, rip off their heart with tears for what they have experience. They believe something must be done. If not, may resurface again.
