N600 OR NO DISCONNECTION! Solidarity to the sensitization rally in Ajegunle

More than six communities representing different streets and areas in Ajegunle gathered today Monday (18/6/2018) to do sensitization rally in the community.  The rally was to sensitized people to begin to come out and demand for free prepaid metres, fight against exploitative crazy bill and equally resist disconnection in the community.

Hundreds of women, youth including the old who came out for the sensitization rally that kick off at one of the public school situated in the community, were enthusiastic about the rally. Every one in the rally were saying the same thing. No light! No payment! We want prepaid metre! Join the campaign!

Interestingly, the trending slogan now is N600 per tenant which the various streets coming together have resolved people should be paying. The reason behind it was they residents have overpaid the Eko Distribution Company (a private run capitalist company drilling the masses with crazy bill).

The rally was well coordinated with different task force men and women from different communities in Ajegunle where a lot of street were covered. Other community like Badia Ijora also join the sensitization rally to give solidarity. Prior before the kick off this morning (18/6/2018), a general all together were called by residents in Ugbwekwankwo, Akatakpo, Young Lane etc to plan for the rally.

The prior objective of the rally according to leaders from each community is to build a common ground with all community in resisting the madness of the Eko Disco. That there is need to begin to let the general public to know that Eko Disco is massively cheating people. And the time is ripe for all community in respective of the area in Ajegunle to join this campaign.

For leaders of this joint campaign. It is N600 or No Disconnection. We want Free Prepaid Metre! Majority of the women who were in the awareness rally said if people don't fight this exploitation will continue, that is why we are coming out to resist this cheating. The slogans were sharp and clear over the matter.

Community activists, socialists from DSM were also in the rally to sympathize and give solidarity. In the light of this, the Socialist Party of Nigeria is in total support with the people of Ajegunle on this campaign against payment for darkness. We in the SPN Ajegunle identify with all the demands raised so far by the oppressed and the ongoing campaigns around the electricity struggle.

We call on all the youths, genuine community activists, residents etc to join the campaign against darkness and resist disconnection in their various community. In building this campaign against darkness, crazy bill, free prepaid metre for all household and ultimately, the re-nationalization of the power sector under the democratic control and management by workers and the consumers is non negotiable.

The Socialist Party of Nigeria Ajegunle want to suggest that in deepening this No Light, No Payment. Each community in respective of the area its fall either Ajeromi or Ifelodun should begin to organize themselves into Defence Working Committee that will be elected democratically among the people to coordinate the campaign and defend it against the madness of Eko Disco.

Doing this will help build the campaign and wide spread it and also make it formidable not to be broken easily. As part of this campaign, the SPN also call on the National Union of Electricity Employee (NUEE) workers to go for a day warning strike over the terrible condition of working including demanding for a new minimum wage implementation for all electricity workers. SPN is oppose to the current Eko Distribution Company tactics of casualization.

SPN stand with the fighting masses of Ajegunle. No Light! No Payment! Free Prepaid Metre now! Cancellation of all outstanding! Nationalization of the power sector under workers management and control! Implementation of a new minimum wage salary! No casualization of electricity workers! 24/7 power supply! No low shedding! Adequate maintenance of all facilities in the community! Etc are all the SPN Ajegunle is in support with the people of Ajegunle agitating against the Private owners of Eko Distribution Company.

That Nigeria is made up of 250 ethnic groups and a population of 180 million is the reason why we are having ethnic clashes unravelling among people.
