ANOTHER INCREMENT: A strangle neck for the poor

Since the inception of PSP, the local government has always argued that is the best, functional and cheaper means to sanitize and maintain the Ajegunle environment. But the reality on ground is that, the government of Karmal-Fatai Ajidagba has been using it to extremely tax the people even though they claim the levy is small: #100:00 per room every month.

Inasmuch, the levy is small, the poor class still grumbles bitterly over it, because the latter felt that the government is over-charging them and also, have decided not to be effective in their social responsibility in the community by providing social amenities with the public resources under local government management and control.

While, the poor working masses vie to pay this levy every two month which is #200:00 per room juxtaposed with the economic reality confronting vast majority of the have-not, who are scratching a living under this business-like system of profit-making; the government have decided of recent hike the levy to #150:00 per room, not minding the economic difficulties they already inflicted on the poor rank and file.

In fact, the PSP officials have been going home to home, street to street, community to community to alert the people why they should sympathize with the local government for the innovate increment because, the administration of Karmal led-APC and his pro-capitalist business contractors, have been trying to sanitize the environment.

But the truth behind such increment is that, the business-like government of APC government is looking for all reasonable excuse of why private sector participation (PSP) is tremendously making huge effort to sanitize the Ajegunle slum communities, and why the increment is necessary.

Why capitalism is always a failed state to freely provide for social welfare for the pauperize is because, they want the mass to chronically pay for the low, cheap and incongruous social services they render to the poor at a very higher cost.

Realistically, PSP is not working, because is a profit oriented project. An instance proves it failure. On 4th October, 2013, there was a ponderous rainfall where in a community wasnamed Mosafejo bridge (Amukoko) was flooded. The canal was blocked likewise the gutter that was newly constructed. The blockage came as result of the dirt the government claim through the PSP/PPP have been sanitizing since their inception.

But the simple truth realistically is to categorically say that the Private Sector Participation isn’t functional in any way. Is based on pay more, low services. This has been the philosophic terminology of this environmental company.

The local government is just using this means of environmental sanitization and cleanliness to divert public resources by claiming they are sanitizing the communities of the poor rank and file; instead, they are making the private company richer and even richer while snatching every penny from the dry pocket of the poor class.

There is no real policy making any real difference in the lives of the poor masses. All is just attack, attack and attack from the APC government who aren’t ready to improve on the living conditions of the poor mass because of the two-edge-sword philosophy of the pro-capitalist government. That is why they won’t stop to implement such outrageous law.

Also, being that is a pro-capitalist environmental project; the labourers working the job are contract workers, who’s working condition is terrible in outlook likewise their health-wise is not protected because, there is no better materials to protect their health. In fact, they are low paid.

Even when they are low paid, the PSP contractors with PPP led government of APC still threaten to take off the job from them by making these labourers submit to their capitalist hardcore working rules and regulations. This has been the methodology and philosophy of this administration against the poor working mass.

In the coming epoch just the way Karmal-Fatai led APC administration have been doing in the past: attacking and padlocking residential homes and even charging the poor to their kangaroo court, won’t stop. This time, they will redouble their effort by ensuring they strangle the neck of the mass to forcefully vomit the new hike levy.

With the yearly revenue generated through multiple taxes, levies and rent added with the allocation to the local government pulse, it mean that the government is extra rich to improve and provide social amenities than cutting the throat of the masses with extorted levies.
